As the NFL starts in full swing today check out the names of the stadiums where the games are being played. Old joke goes “If a company you own stock in pays for the naming rights of a stadium, sell the stock!” There is even a term for it called “Stadium Naming Curse” (click here.)
I thought about this just the other night while at Camden Yards and wondered how long it would be before Maryland authorities opted to sell those naming rights. Currently, the official name is Oriole Park at Camden Yards which is a mouthful. Turns out that this was a compromised name as follows:
