Rolling on the (Potomac) River?

Just returned from a river cruise of the Douro Valley aboard one of Viking Cruise Lines newest ships the Hemming.  While on the cruise I heard talk of how Viking is in the process of an expansion program which includes plans to begin offering trips aboard one of their vessels traveling the Mississippi River (click here for related story.)

When I heard this, my first thought was “Why not down the Potomac River?”  Granted the Potomac is not as storied nor as famous as is the mighty Mississippi, but the Potomac has more going for it.  Can’t you see the itinerary with stops in D.C., the National Harbor, Mount Vernon, St. Mary’s City and Buzzy’s Country Store?  Who wouldn’t spring for all of that?   Here is Viking’s video discussing their services and no they did not cut me any discount deal for giving them this free publicity.  (While watching the video, notice how most of the couples shown enjoying the experience are sort of like those Cialis commercials where all the men are old and gray and the women are still fit and kind of attractive.)
