On the heels of Reagan laying Jimmy Page’s autobiography on me, Daughter Ryan recommended the Toots and the Maytal’s True Love cd to me. “Dad, you’ll like this,” she predicted, correctly as it turned out. I Amazoned it and upon receipt ONE day later (still amazes me how that can be done) popped it into the truck CD player on my way down to Buzzy’s Country Store.
I expected to hear the reggae beats and melodies along with Toots’ doing his thing but when Willie chimed in I went “Hey, that’s pretty cool, Willie’s singing with him.” Turns out it’s Willie’s song that they are doing. (The cd is one of these duet deals where Toots teams up with different folks to cover different tunes.)
The rest of the cd isn’t bad either but the Still is Still Moving collaboration with Willie steals the show. Thank you Ryan. It made the ultimate cut in my song of songs list – potential song candidate to be played at my funeral. Of course I won’t still be moving by then but I guess that’s the point of the song right?
