Hattie and Nattie

Speaking of coincidences, awhile back I did a post on how Ross Raley and Buzzy were connected in that they both operated businesses that served the local community (click here.)

I was cleaning out some of Buzzy’s papers the other day when I came across this old edition of an Enterprise containing some obituaries.  I was surprised to see that Buzzy’s mother Ms. Hattie and Ross’ mother Nattie died a couple weeks apart at the same age.   Their obituaries appeared side by side in the paper.  (If you do that Ctrl+ thingmy it’ll make the article easier to read.)

Both of them had their grandsons serve as their pall bearers and note on Ms. Hattie’s that someone, whom I assume was Buzzy, underlined Brother Steve’s and my names. Another note is that mention of Ms. Hattie’s Scotland sons James, Clarence and Stephen doesn’t sound quite right does it, since everyone knew them as Cotton, Buzzy and Tinkie.
