I'm Sorry, Cal

Went to Saturday’s Orioles-Royals game with Brady, Caitie and her Dad Mickey.  We left Tall Timbers at 9:30 am, arrived at Camden Yards a little before noon and spent the next 4 hours waiting for the rain to stop and the game to begin.

During the rain delay they showed on the Jumbo Tron an hour plus long video of Cal breaking the consecutive game record.  The video featured all the falderal that went down that night including pre-game, in game and post game events.  It wasn’t bad but it did drag on a little too long.  Somewhere in the middle of Peter Angelos’ speech it dawned on me that perhaps this was my penance for ever having suggested in a blogpost the other day that Cal breaking this record was not that big a deal (click here.)

So as I silently made my amends with the Oriole baseball gods by acknowledging that indeed this was a great thing that Cal accomplished, I also apologized to them for ever having suggested otherwise.  And once I did that presto, it stopped raining.  Who says I’m a slow learner?

Orioles then got shellacked as the Royals had two 5 run innings back to back and won big time.  (Maybe the Orioles’ gods were still trying to teach me a lesson after all.)

Mickey did manage to snag a foul ball.  He probably was never critical of Cal.
