Speaking of birthdays (yesterday’s post about Kurt Cobain’s on 20 February,) for my 65th birthday a few weeks ago I received several funny cards. Here are a couple of them. First is one from my buddy Doug Ford and his wife Jeannie Mae.
But leave it to my Cousin Jo Jo and his wife Pat to really nail me by sending me this card listing the behaviors I can now do because I am officially an old guy:
Some of these, such as that kvetching about the lower back, I’ve mastered years ago.Today’s famous birthday celebrant of course is George Washington. However it also marks the birthday of actress Jeri Ryan. I’ve been watching her in a good little show titled Leverage which is being re-run on the ION channel and can also be seen on YouTube.
Here is some trivia for you about Jeri and the course of our political history. She was married at one time to a Jack Ryan who ran for U.S. Senate in Illinois. However, as they were in the process of getting a divorce, details about the divorce forced him to withdraw from the Senate race. (According to the divorce records she accused Jack of wanting her to have sex with him in a public place. No problem with that right?) After Jack withdrew from the Senate race, Alan Keyes ran in his place, and was defeated by some dude named Barack. Makes you wonder how things may have turned out had Jeri just gone along with that sex-in-public request.
