Something I wonder about when listening to a song – how and when do the composers decide that it’s finished versus keep fooling with it by adding “stuff” to it. By way of example, I heard “Not in Love” by 10cc the other day and it got me thinking about the lady who whispers “Be quiet, big boys don’t cry.” Well, sure enough I was able to track down “the rest of the story” courtesy of this video that has her discussing how she came to be on the record (4:45 mark.)
10cc has an interesting history/background (click here.) One of their members Graham Gouldman wrote hit records such as For Your Love and Heartful of Soul (Yardbirds) No Milk Today (Herman’s Hermits) Bus Stop and Look Thru Any Window (Hollies.)
