Nikos – Missed and Loved

For various reasons, I have been on a No Facebook run here during the leadup to the election.

However, when I ventured back into the FB waters just now, I found this extremely nice exchange on the closing of Nikos Restaurant in St. Mary’s Square.

(As you may or may not recall, I have previously mentioned how Pam and I have always referred to Nikos as “our place” (click here for related story.)   So we too were very sadden to hear that Lambrini had closed her shop.)

Katz Springer summed things up very nicely in the following note that Lambrini’s daughter posted on their FB site:

Following Katz’ excellent letter, several folks made similarly nice comments as follows:

All that I can add to the above comments is my best wishes to Lambrini and her family.  Pam and I appreciate all of their efforts thru the years in making Nikos “our place.”

Musically there haven’t been too many Greek rock groups to have made an impact on the American music scene.  (Yanni doesn’t count as a rock group.)  One group Lefki Symphonia had the first Greek video on MTV way back in 1988.  They are still around and touring and yes they have a FB site (click here.)  Good little tune here from them even if you’ve no clue what they are singing about.
