Three to Get Nine

Nice thing about a Wednesday holiday like we just had is that two days later the weekend rolls in and  you have the opportunity to continue taking a break from your work day doldrums.  Maybe THAT is why they call it the most wonderful time of the year.

The other day my son Shea told me that he was “taking 3 to get 9.”  I smiled at hearing this because with him working on the water all those years I never thought that I would hear this “3 to get 9” lingo said by him.  For all of you non-Government-connected employees “3-to-get-9” is short hand speak for taking 3 days of leave in order to be off 9 consecutive days.  When Tuesday Christmas Eve was designated as a holiday it began a 9 day break with employees whose CWS fell on this Friday only needing to take leave on Thursday, Monday and Tuesday.  For Government workers the “3-to-get-9” is like a little bonus for them at this time of year when all of the holiday-related activities begin to heat up.

Events-wise this weekend, a couple of things caught my eye – The Retro Christmas Exhibit continues at the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum (click here.)  There is also an excellent Photography Show currently at the Lexington Park Library that is worth seeing (click here.Good article here on the show from the Maryland Chronicle (click here.)

Music-wise this Saturday night Sunset Cove Marina Restaurant features Brad and Tiffany Karaoke starting at 7.

And speaking of Karaoke, the Late Late Show T-V Carpool Karaoke segments do not do much for me mostly because I don’t particularly care for the host James Corden.  Don’t know why I don’t like him but obviously Paul thought enough of him to participate and you know that can’t be bad  (click here if you don’t get that.)
