This day in rock history John Lennon wrote, recorded, mixed and released Instant Karma all in one day (click here.) John’s description was “wrote it at breakfast, recorded it at lunch and released it at dinner.”
I’d play it here for you but have to confess that Karma never did much for me to the point that I always thought that it was a little dumb. Lyrics in particular sounded exactly like something written in a hurry. “Who the hell do you think you are? A super star? Well, by rights you are.” I could write that. As always, I blame Yoko. (Her being blindfolded and knitting in the video didn’t help elevate my opinion any of her nor the song. However, as one of the commentators noted “At least she’s not pretending to sing.”)
