Twofer Tuesday – Pizza and Country Stores

Let’s rev up the Buzzmobile and take a road trip to Indiana today.

Our first stop appropriately enough is at a Buzzy’s as in Buzzy’s Pizzeria located in Greendale.

Greendale is located in Southeastern Indiana, but even there they get alot of snow as seen in these photos and notices on the Buzzy’s Pizza FB page.

Difficult enough as it is for small businesses to operate in today’s environment, nasty weather just adds one more hurdle for them to negotiate – literally!

Next up on our Indiana tour, let’s have a look at 11 country stores that, at least according to this headline “Will Enrapture Your Soul” (click here.) Don’t believe that I will ever hear Buzzy’s Country Store described as such; maybe “ruin” or “corrupt your soul” would be more like it! “Enrapture” is a pretty strong sentiment to use when talking about country stores wouldn’t you think?

Note that the article was written in March 2019, so here’s hoping that all 11 of these country stores managed to survive Covid and are still around. I researched three of the ones that caught my eye and am pleased to note that they are indeed alive and well.

The Yoho General Store in Solsberry, Indiana is still doing it (click here)

The Cataract General Store in Spencer is the oldest general store in Indiana and is still around (click here.) Here is a now-and-then photo comparison.

Ridge Used to Have a Snyder’s Store Located at Snyder’s Corner at the Intersection of Rts. 5 and 235.

Stephenson’s General Store in Leavenworth, IN is the third store that caught my eye and they too are still open and serving the public:

Note how all of these stores have survived without having to rely on alcohol sales to make ends meet as did Buzzy’s Country Store. Don’t know what that says about Buzzy’s, but do know that you do what you got to do in order to survive in today’s marketplace.

Music-wise, guess you saw (heard) this one coming right? While it may not be the worst song ever, it’s still pretty bad. This video doesn’t help to improve it much either. There was some churn over the siren effect at the beginning of the song because some folks driving in their cars pulled over thinking the police were after them. In subsequent releases of the record, the siren was then eliminated. Wonder what those folks were doing in their cars that made them feel so guilty?
