This past Saturday afternoon/evening Salt Waterfront Kitchen in addition to offering up some great food, drinks and music also had an Axe Throwing booth set up for folks to try their hand at it. Following photos were taken by Connie Lepper:

It’s ironic that I saw this Saturday night because Friday I had just reviewed and re-submitted my update for Buzzy’s Country Store annual insurance package. This year I noted that they had added an additional question (Line M) to their usual inquiries:

I was aware that Brudergarten Beer Garden in Leonardtown has been featuring axe throwing for some time.

However, it did make me wonder just how and where axe throwing in barrooms got to be a thing. As for the history of how it all got started, check this out (click here.)
As for whether or nor Buzzy’s will be pursuing any axe throwing in the future, the answer would be NO. (Then again I did hear that it was $20 a pop for three throws, so maybe come mid winter when times are tight, we’ll consider letting folks toss an axe or two around. Just don’t tell my insurance company. Like someone said, axes being tossed around coupled with consumption of large quantities of alcohol – what could possibly go wrong?)
And since I am on the subject, check out the classic Johnny Carson/Ed Ames video:
Twofer Tuesday, so check out some music from Ed who played Mingo on the Daniel Boone Show. Actor, singer, hatchet thrower, Ed was a very multi-talented guy wasn’t he?
