Twofer Tuesday pop quiz for you – what would you list as your two best things in life? Hopefully, your answer is a little more “evolved” than Pooh’s here:

I would imagine that most of you would respond with “Family” as the top best thing in life. (Note that some formal surveys tend to confirm this (click here.)) “Friends” tend to rank high in these surveys too.) I would agree that those two are also my top answers; but with the caveat that I consider them to be one and the same just as two horses are coupled in a race as entries 1 and 1A.
As for then listing my second best thing in life, I would have to say “traveling.” It gives me great pleasure to go somewhere I’ve never been and see things I’ve never seen before. I do believe that the secret to life is to travel.
Other items on my best of life list would include things like music, baseball, living on a beach, owning a country store and being retired. (I could make a case that “Retirement” is a top two item also as it is a great facet of life once you can get there.)
When compiling your list though, remember to repudiate Pooh (try saying that three times in a row) because there is a school of thought that posits that “things” don’t count in this best of evaluation:

Notice too, no mention of “money” as a best thing. The old adage “Money is the answer to all questions” may or may not be relevant here when asked to list your best things in life. Money matters. Being financially stable is a nice place to be in life because it enables things like traveling, taking the Grandkids on trips and going out to dinner with friends.

U2 talking about the Sweetest Thing.
Not on the list but should be – “Freedom to visit an old country store.”
