Quick followup here to yesterday’s Buzzyblog post about the Northern prong of St. Jerome Creek. Just where did the phrase “Up the creek without a paddle” originate? A little internetting, and I landed on these two explanations:


While in Seattle for our annual baseball trip, Brady and I visited the infamous Edgewater Hotel (which I will discuss some more in a future Buzzyblog post.) While at the Edgewater hotel bar, we enjoyed talking to a bartender named Mark who was nice enough to take this photo of us.

As Mark told us all about the hotel’s rock n roll history, he mentioned that Cheap Trick was playing that night at a local arena along with Rod Stewart (for a look at that show click here.) A check of CheapTrick’s setlist for that show, reveals that this tune of theirs’ was not included:
