Charlie Simms’ birthday get together Sunday at Buzzy’s was indeed a great time. As the party wound down later in the afternoon, he told me how much he had enjoyed it all and thanked me for hosting it. All I could do was shake my head and tell him “Believe me Charlie, it was my pleasure to do so. We haven’t had too many 97 year old birthday parties at Buzzy’s.”
Thank you Clyde Ridgell for taking these photos. Everybody sang Happy Birthday to Charlie as he cut the birthday cake his son Glenn and family brought for him:

Whenever I think back on how best to describe a good time at Buzzy’s, I am always reminded of John Lennon’s description in his part of “I’ve got a Feeling” “Everybody had a good time, everybody saw the sun shine.” (Note too, that regarding his other description “Everybody had a wet dream,” I’ll just skip over that part when trying to describe any Buzzy party.)
Back to Charlie and Sunday, thank you everyone who brought in all of the excellent food that we had on hand. It proved once again the old adage “It is difficult to host a great party, but if you have plenty to eat and drink, your odds of doing so increase greatly.”
Seeing as it is a Twofer Tuesday, check out this clever video where Paul and John come together in concert at the 2:15 mark. See what I did there?)
Here too are the Bootleg Beatles covering Come Together.

Happy Birthday Charlie, sorry I missed it.
