Government Shutdowns – Your Tax Money NOT at Work

Good article in a recent Washington Post edition discussing the idiocy surrounding government shutdowns (click here.) (If the Post’s paywall stops you from accessing the article, I will sum it up in 7 words “Stupid, silly waste of time and money.”)

Congress has but one job to do – pass a budget. If they can’t do so in a timely matter here is a simple fix: make it a permanent policy that they do what they did this time, albeit temporarily, and leave everything at the current spending levels while they continue to try and reach a consensus on proposed funding levels. As stated, this would be the default, standard policy. No shutdowns, no “sky-is-falling” crapola and the government’s funding stays right where it is until they get their act together and stipulate otherwise. Seems like a simple fix to me. But noooo. Come 19 January 24, we will be going through this shutdown shit show again no doubt in my mind.

The WaPo article did conclude with a positive aspect of government shutdowns however, as described in the following:

Love and second “It’s a bar. They talk.” Maybe even Congress would agree upon that.

I have shared this Toby video previously, but it’s worth an encore:

Note that Buzzy’s Country Store will be shutdown tomorrow. However, come Black Friday it will be back open and rocking as usual with all prices still at last year’s levels.
