Like an ever-expanding blob, the NFL continues to take over the world day by day, and country by country.

As for playing on any given day, remember the scene from the movie Concussion where it was noted how the NFL had taken Sundays away from the Church?
Well, that was referring to a time when the NFL product was mostly a Sunday-only gig. Hence, the “Any Given Sunday” expression.
Now, as you well know, in addition to Sundays, NFL games are regularly scheduled for Monday and Thursday nights. And, as if that wasn’t enough football for everyone, today marks the NFL’s starting to schedule Saturday games for each of the final weeks of this year’s regular season (click here for story.)
Three games are on tap this week and two are set for next Saturday.

Interesting scheduling note – both the Bengals and the Steelers play in games set for today and then will re-appear next Saturday to play each other. Leads me to believe that some NFL-scheduler-in-charge was either a Bengals or Steelers fan and wanted his Sundays freed up the next 2 weeks.)
I know you got all your Christmas shopping done and want to kick back and watch some football this afternoon, so here is a suggestion for you: Buzzy’s has a front row seat for you to do just that. Come on down!
Speaking of Any Given Sunday, I noticed on the list of things to do this weekend, that Joe Kurley’s The Rex in Leonardtown will be hosting the band Any Given Sin tonight. They got my nomination for Best Band Name. Check out their Christmas tune and please, no comments about no double negatives. (Oops.)
