The other day, and only a guess here, but I am thinking that it was on December 13, someone in Buzzy’s Country Store noted that it was only 12 days to Christmas. That naturally led to a conversation about the Christmas tune 12 Days of Christmas and what a dumb song it is.
During that conversation, I was reminded of a parody that I had read somewhere about the young lady receiving all those nice presents and eventually becoming a little disenchanted with the gifts that her true love was sending her way.
Thanks to that Google machine, I was able to track down the 12 Days’ parody and you can check it out in its entirety by (clicking here.)If you don’t want to bother reading the entire letter, the following excerpt will give you a feel for how it all went down. (Note too, that I had forgotten just how upset the young lady became along about the sixth day of Christmas.)

Speaking of controversial matters that I had forgotten about, this nice Christmas video of the Pogues’ Fairytale of New York is timely because lead singer Shane MacGowan was buried just last week after he died on 30 November from pneumonia. In the following video Jimmy and Saoirse skip the verse that caused all sorts of controversy about the lyrics when the song was first released in 1987 (click here.) Perhaps you can see why they omitted it.
