Today’s Twofer Tuesday is actually only a Onefer because I am still not ready to think nor talk about the Ravens’ total crapping of the bed this past Sunday in their loss to Mahomes and the Chiefs..
Instead, I’m thinking back to a dozen years ago to another Ravens’ AFC Championship loss that hurt even worse than this one does.
It was what has become known as the “Lee Evans Game” where Joe Flacco threw the game winning touchdown pass only to have the Patriots’ defender knock it out of Lee’s hands (click here to view it.)

Adding insult to injury, after the Evans’ drop, the Ravens somehow managed to rally a second time to get back into position for a game tying field goal to send the game into overtime. However, their kicker Billy Cundiff missed the 32 yard chip shot (click here.) (As soon as you hear Jim Nance say “The last two years he is 16 for 16 in kicking 4th quarter field goals” you knew the fix/jinx was in.) His miss launched a new term for kickers missing field goals (right up there with “He Bucknered it”) as in “He Cundiffed it.”
On that January 23rd Sunday back in 2012, Pam and I were holed up in a hotel in Reno where I watched the game while she read her book. We had a Monday flight home and wanted to be near the airport because it had snowed a couple feet in Tahoe area and the roads were being closed. We drove north thru Truckee to get to Reno that Sunday morning.
I did the following Buzzyblog post upon our return to the Point.

If you click on the link it will take you to that tune.
As for the halftime entertainment at this past Sunday’s Ravens/Chiefs game, T Pain very appropriately made an appearance. It was as if the powers-that-be knew that pain was in the forecast for us Ravens’ fans.
Out west at the Niners/Lions’ game, Journey was the halftime act (click here to view that.) Their “Don’t Stop Believing” performance is being credited with the Niners rallying from 17 points down in the second half to win the game (click here.) Maybe the Ravens need to figure out how to book those boys into B’more next time.
