My buddy Captain Greg Madjeski tells me they still have space available for anybody that would like to take in the Smith Island Cruise this Saturday or Sunday. Cost is $60 per person and advanced reservations are not needed for this weekend. Walk ups are welcome. Capt. Greg asks that you plan on being there around 9:30 because he plans to leave promptly at 10:00 o’clock on both days. (Note – parking is a couple minutes walk to the boat. Vehicle driver can drop folks off at pier/boat and then proceed to parking area located adjacent to the marina.)

The annual Governor’s Cup sail boat race party is going on today at St. Mary’s College. For more details on today’s festivities (click here.)
As noted on the Historic St. Mary’s City FB page, the Maryland Dove serves as the finish line for the race. So if you drive thru St. Mary’s City today you may be able to see the Dove out on the river. Tomorrow it will be back at its dock in front of the State House for folks to tour it.

At Buzzy’s Country Store today, we got some birthday partying set for this afternoon. Swing by if you’re out and about. And yes, “A splendid time is guaranteed for all.”
Having said that, it naturally leads me to this Beatles’ tune. And while it is not among my favorite of Beatles’ tunes, it does have something to say about partying and goofing around having a good time. This trippy scene is from the movie “Across the Universe” with the splendid line sung at the 2:40 mark.
