Garth Hudson, last living member of The Band, passed away on 21 January. Talk about The Ending of an Era.
Garth was usually in the background in the majority of The Band’s video’s and appearances. However, their post-Band name Chest Fever put the focus squarely on him whenever they performed his Chest Fever/Genetic Method tune described as follows:
As for re-joining up with his band mates, here they are with dates on when they all headed up to that Cripple Creek in the sky.
Did not realize how young Manuel and Danko were when they punched out. Way too young.
However, since I mentioned it, have a listen to “a drunkard’s dream if I ever did see one!”
Little quiz for you – Name something that The Band and Buzzy’s have in common? I started to discuss both being down home and genuine real deals, but then I felt guilty even trying to measure up to The Band’s overall excellence. However, the biggest similarity that they have in common involves Buzzy’s being known as simply “The Store” and The Band, well they really were THE Band!
