End of the month Buzzyblog look back shows that July was indeed a very busy month.

The introduction of our Buzzy Podcasts, thanks to Chief Larry’s expertise and efforts, led to several Buzzyblog posts on our guests and those actual interviews with them. My thanks to Larry and guest interviewees Brian Barnhill, Pat Guy, Ray Raley (twice), my sisters Donna Taylor and Lila Hofmeister, my cousins Lorraine Teefey and Joe White, and Charlie Simms for their appearances on the Podcasts and in turn here on the Buzzblog.

With July being a month full of events and attractions, I did several posts on things to do and places to go. In these posts, I focused on South County events (of course with an ulterior motive of getting people to stop in Buzzy’s Country Store either before or after they attended those affairs! Call it not-so-subliminal advertising.)
I did quite a few human interest posts including my Grandkids on vacation visiting a country store in West Virginia. I did another post on Bernie Sevel, whose Granddad started Buzzy’s; and one on Rob Romero for his visit to Buzzy’s to check on the Air Force Hat that he donated years ago. There was also a post on the McCoy family reunion, Chris Axtel and Herbie Mckay’s Buzzy birthday parties and a post on the Sisters of St. Joseph. (The latter generated lots of FB comments leading me to conclude that I may just have to put the Good Sisters in the Buzzy rotation with more frequent blog appearances.)

Rant-wise, while I was fairly quiet this month, I did question the effectiveness of Sobriety Checkpoints in two posts. Additionally, there was a post on the arrest of several Ridge folks many years ago in what seemed to me to have been a case of police “over reach.” (Note that I am mincing some words here when “Over reaction” may have been the more direct way of saying it.)
And of course, the Buzzyblog contained a couple of weather-related posts having to do floods in Texas and the hot-as-hell days around here. (Little admission/confession here, on those very rare days when I do not have anything much to say, the weather is always a go-to topic. Thus, in the future, when ever you see a weather-related post here on the Buzzyblog, you can surmise “Ok, he didn’t have anything to say today.”)
Sports-wise, where I have been rightfully accused of devoting too much Buzzyblog time on, I only had one post: the Orioles setting a record when they drubbed the Rockies 18-0. I worried at the time about jinxing them by posting that. However, they then reeled off 3 more wins over one of the best teams in baseball before losing yesterday.
Going forward, a quick look ahead for the O’s, reveals that August figures to be a tough month for them as they will be playing really good teams. They will face the Cubs, Phillies, Mariners, Astros (seven times) and the Red Sox all of whom are over 500 and in either first or second place in their division. (Ok, technically the Red Sox are in third place just one game behind the Yankees.) The only so called breather in the August schedule that the O’s have is a three game series against the A’s. I will attempt some reverse jinx psychology here and predict that it is going to be a very ugly and a verrrry long month for our Boys in Orange.
Music-wise, I don’t really monitor nor keep track of what type music is played here on the Buzzyblog. At one time I did aim for 50/50 mixture between country and rock with an occasional jazz or off-the-wall tune thrown in. That said, how about today, I lay a Kanye tune on you? Recall that I debated doing so in Ray’s Podcast after he told his story on meeting Mr. West at his father’s Water Cafe. Tune and video may surprise you. I know it did me.

I love keeping up with you and the “Buzzy gang”. Miss everyone there!
Sorry I didn’t get to visit you and Brian on my last trip to Maryland. You guys were on vacation…
