TWTWTW

Remember the T-V show That Was The Week That Was? I thought of it driving home from Buzzy’s Country Store Friday evening as I reflected on this past week.

Maybe it was the up and down weather or something to do with Lent, but for some reason this past week seemed to involve more than few stories and conversations about death, dying and/or near death experiences.

It began last Sunday as folks in Buzzy’s discussed attending a going away party held for someone who really is going away in that he is fixin’ to die. If that sounds a little too Weekend at Bernies for you, stop and think about it for a minute because bottom line is that we are all fixin’ to die and could do so at any time. Having a party and making the best of it seems like a good idea. (Recall my referencing the “Why I Hope to Die at 75” article (click here.))

Buzzy’s was closed Monday; but on Tuesday the conversation in Buzzy’s was all about the quadruple, cornhole fella who shot and murdered someone (click here.) Conversations were of the WTF? variety, but did involve some insightful quotes such as “I just wanna know how he pulled the trigger!” and “I just want know how he wiped his butt!”

Mid-week, the Buzzy conversations then turned to an awful house fire that necessitated two people being flown out (click here.) They both survived and after talk about who they were, most of the discussions in Buzzy’s ended up trying to figure out just where the fire occurred as to which house and which street in Scotland Beach it was located. And of course, any conversation about Scotland Beach will inevitably lead to Edelen “Swoop” Morgan stories. Seriously!

Throughout the week, there was one of those Buzzy unforeseen consequences’ situations involving Leslie Ledonne’s Killing Henrietta book. I have copies of it positioned front and center on the Buzzy counter for sale. I sold out of the first batch and Leslie brought me a second round to sell. I have no problem with doing so.

However, with the books front and center on the Buzzy counter, it encourages repeated (and I do mean repeated) conversations and conjectures on it and her murder. Being a mystery book, it is only natural that people want to discuss who did it and review the gory details. Some of that talk I don’t mind and chalk it off as one of those cases where it goes with the job so deal with it. That said however, I find that talking about Henrietta’s demise can get a little old.

And speaking of cold cases, there was an end-of-the-week conversation involving a missing person from a couple years ago. A friend of mine in Buzzy’s told me on Friday that he had encountered a couple of County deputies near his property. When he asked them what they were looking for, they informed him that they were in the area searching for evidence having to do with a person who went missing back in 2023 (click here.) We both concluded that there may be more to this story than the deputies were letting on. Another mystery to mull over.

That is why I dubbed it the week that was. As sung in the theme song below, “It’s over, so let it go.” Hope that the week ahead will be better. Then again, we got the whole Passion-of-Christ and Good Friday business to go through before we can celebrate hopefully, a very happy Easter Sunday. Here’s to a good Holy Week!

Following is the theme song from the TW3 British T-V show. David Frost (1:17 in the video) was featured in both the British and the American shows.

The Buzzy Podcast with Judy Courtney and Blaire Obney is set for tomorrow’s Buzzyblog, so tune back in for that. Chief Larry’s video is currently available on YouTube so if you’d like to catch it now (click here.) I will have some additional photos and notes included in tomorrow’s Buzzyblog.
