The Tudors (Crazy King Henry VIII)

Pam and I just finished watching the Tudors on Netflix.  (I know it’s only been around for like the last 10 years but we only recently got Netflix and are finally catching up with these sort of things.)

While Pam enjoyed it a lot, I came away with some mixed feelings about it.  Pam reads all those Brit-based novels so she knew the history and background about crazy King Henry and all his shenanigans.  On the other hand, I was catching the play for the first time.

Henry, with his six wives, his split from the Catholic Church, his treatment of his staff, and his frequent wars with just about everyone around him, was a complicated mess.  Just his love life alone would have been enough material for a mini-series.  Two of his wives he had beheaded, two he got rid of thru annulment/divorce, one died in childbirth and one finally outlived him just before he was about to shit can her too.  Henry was a rolling stone before the term was even known.

But overall it was an entertaining series.  My one big take away – our founding fathers were very smart to have kept all of that church and state stuff separate when they set things up for us.  It sure made a mess of things back in Henry’s time.

All of which is a good excuse to play this Christian video for you it being Easter Sunday and all.  Enjoy your Easter Egg hunt.
