St. Mary’s County Historical Society recently held their annual meeting and featured a discussion of old time Country Stores as community centers. Unfortunately for me I had some scheduling issues that evening and couldn’t attend the meeting but sure would like to have heard what all was said.
Here for you is a nice article from the County Times on the meeting. For full article click here and scroll down to page 6.).)
Had I been able to attend the meeting though, I could have provided some insights on what it is like to own and operate a country store that TODAY continues to serve as a community center. Granted, Buzzy’s doesn’t sell groceries nor hardware but still it continues to be a place where folks can relax and talk about whatever they care to talk about. And believe me, talk is the key word.
Toby has some other thoughts on talking. I respect his opinion. However, he too will someday reach an age where more talk and less action is the preferred approach to life.
