November Birthdays and Other Matters

The first-day-of-the-month Buzzyblog post, where I list the upcoming birthdays for the month, is usually the easiest post that I do.  I simply go back to last year’s post and do a cut and paste.  In most cases, it is a fairly easy and simple effort.  However, it can also be one of the sadder posts that I do and here is why.

Once I do the cut-and-paste, I will always scan the previous year’s post to see if there are any folks listed last year who are no longer here with us this year.  If they are gone, obviously we won’t be celebrating their birthdays in the coming month.

Today’s cut-and-paste casualty then was my old friend and running mate Mike Raley who would have turned 70 later this month on the 23rd.  However, instead of listing his birthday here on the Buzzyblog today, I will be attending his funeral at noon later today at St. Michael’s Church.  To read Mike’s obit (click here.)

I will also be attending a Memorial Mass for my Mom this morning in recognition of her having passed on this date one year ago.  (Here is some coincidental info for you – Mike passed on October 24th which is the date his Mom Judy passed 3 years ago and he will be buried today on the date that my Mom passed one year ago.)

As for the Buzzy birthdays that we will be celebrating this month, we have several as follows: John Carbone on 2 November, John “Busser” Eaker on the 4th, Wes Demko on the 5th, Darline Madjeski the 8th, John Porter the 9th, Ella Ridgell the 9th, Sharon Barnhill the 12th, Harry Wheatley and Wade Norris 14th, Joe Stone 16 November, Warren Burke and Tommy Courtney the 20th, Mary Lou Cullison the 23rd,  Bobby Cook and Bubba Cullison on the 30th.  In my immediate family, my Grand daughter Lily celebrates on the 17th and my niece Katie (Taylor) Allen on the 25th.

Most Monday songs are in a melancholy kinda mood and this one from Jimmy fits that description:
