Here’s a little different Twofer Tuesday for you. Warning – it may change your take on Stairway to Heaven.
The other day in Buzzy’s Country Store someone mentioned having their hedgerow trimmed. As I always do whenever I hear the word hedgerow, I immediately thought of Led Zepp’s “Stairway to Heaven” lyrics “If there is a bustle in your hedgerow, don’t be alarmed now. It’s just a spring clean for the May Queen…”
Little did I know that throughout all these years now it has been the devil himself making me do this. By that I am referring to something called backmasking which is described as follows:
Having learned all this, I am not too sure how I feel about it. However, I guess there’s still time to change the road I’m on.
When Plant went solo, he eventually returned to the whole May Queen thing when he did this song on his Carry Fire album. (To the best of my knowledge, I don’t believe anyone has tried playing it backwards in search of secret messages.)
